【Great Collaboration】 Chap. 4, Sec. (22)

(22) Goyotashi economy has already taken off

Even at this stage, goyotashi economy has already taken off extensively in Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability. Let us take shopping in Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability as an example. Here, an awful lot of information is commonly exchanged between the buyer and the seller. More specifically, much of the information that the buyer wishes to know or learn, besides price and quantity, is provided by the seller. In the case of agricultural crops, examples of such information may include where the crops were produced, history of the production process (traceability), or how to cook and clean them up [after cooking].

In particular, businesses related to LOHAS are often conducted via the Internet or mail-order. And the information exchanged therein tends to be more detailed and more in-depth than when the buyer chooses, in a store, a product by taking a direct look at it. The buyer makes purchases based on that information, while at the same time the seller, through providing the information demanded by the buyer, gets to know what the buyer (*4) is looking for or what needs the buyer (*4) is trying to satisfy. With that in mind, the seller is able to “tailor” a more suitable product for the buyer.

Furthermore, especially in Internet-based businesses, links to other stores recommended by the seller company or to external information-providing sites are commonly featured [on the seller company’s site]. If the buyer trusts the seller, then the buyer will generally trust the store introduced ― and whose link is provided ― by the seller as well.

Also, in the world of LOHAS, a number of user experiences are published on the Internet or in magazines and books. Based on countless pieces of such user information in circulation, both the buyer and seller can improve, refine, and evolve their actions.

Thus, in the world of LOHAS, goyotashi economy, in effect, has already taken off. So, also in the Great Collaboration society extending from LOHAS, we can imagine that goyotashi business management, and goyotashi economy based thereon, will be prevalent throughout the society.

Note by the translator:

(*4) Here, in the original Japanese document, the Japanese word for “seller” is used. However, judging from the context, the translator believes that this is a typo of the Japanese word for “buyer.”
